| Phlox maculata
Alpha (George Arends 1918)
Phlox
maculata varieties are distinguished by the maroon spotting on their
stems and their long, narrow leaves. They do better in less than ideal
situations than Phlox paniculata varieties.
Alpha is
a medium tall
variety (up to 2ft 9in / 85cm in good soil) with upright cylindrical heads of clear pink flowers from June to
August. It has a good fragrance.
RHS Award of Garden Merit.
