Saponaria:

Common name: Soapwort because some species create a soap when the leaves are rubbed which has the power to lift dirt and grease. In the UK Saponaria officinalis was used for this purpose.

Saponaria oxymoides: Excellent carpeter that is completely smothered with starry pink flowers between early May and early July.  No more than 6in high, the stems spread to from a mat about 2ft across.

This plant is said to love lime but does very well in my slightly acid soil. Grows well in dry soils.
