SpecialPerennials.com Plant NurseryOur Plants: We propagate and grow over 95% of our plants here at Hankelow. Plants are hard grown - no heat and little glass cover. We think this produces a better plant for the garden, but it does mean that some plants aren't ready first thing in the year. We normally start sending out mail order plants from April onwards. Some plants take longer to be ready and are marked  Available Summer Onwards in the catalogue. You may order these plants at anytime but we will hold your order until all plants are ready. If you want some plants earlier it is best to place separate orders. All plants are produced in very small numbers. If we sell out we are normally try and propagate some more.

We use reduced peat composts mixed here to our own recipes. Currently our mix is more than 50% peat free. We are constantly looking for a peat free mixture that doesn't involve increased watering or fertiliser input. The little brown or blue spheres you may find in our compost are controlled release fertiliser granules. The blue grains are vine weevil control powder. All plants are treated against vine weevil and therefore are not edible and must not be planted in ponds or water courses without first washing off all the compost.

All plants are grown in small quantities. if we sell out we try to propagate more.

How to Buy our Plants:

Mail Order: You can order via our online form, email or phone (01270 811443 / 0771 699 0695). Please see our mail order information for details including postal rates. We don't normally send out plants between December and the end of March but you can still place orders.
Direct from our garden nursery: See our opening times page for details of when you can call in on us at our garden nursery. Please don't expect a all-singing and dancing retail experience - it is a small "garden nursery". Please do expect a friendly welcome and our honest advice if required. Plants on the nursery may be larger and therefore at higher prices. If you want a specific plant please ring or email to check availability before travelling. On NGS open days a proportion of our takings is donated to the NGS charities.
The Dorothy Clive Garden: During the garden's open season you can buy a selection from our range while visiting this lovely garden. see www.dorothyclivegarden.co.uk for opening times.
Plant Fairs, Talks and Shows: We can bring pre-ordered plants to plant fairs and talks we are attending. Please enquire via phone or email. (There is no delivery charge).

Please note we only accept cash, cheques and postal orders at the nursery.  When buying by mail order or if pre-ordering plants for collection you can also pay by credit / debit card via PayPal.

We do not sell wholesale and we can't offer quantity discounts.

All prices are for mail order only. Plants for sale from the nursery and at events and shows may be larger and at correspondingly higher prices.
