Spiderwort
A plant with
everything in threes - 3 petals per flower and the fine, grass-like eaves
are arranged in threes around the stem. Generally trouble free and long
flowering perennials. They good in sun or part shade and will grow happily
in quite moist soils as well as normal garden soil.
It is best to dead
head to encourage repeat flowering and to prevent possibly inferior
seedlings.
Propagate named
varieties by division or by stem cuttings which root quickly.
