Penstemon Husker Red is grown for its beetroot colour leaves as much as its flowers.Penstemon:

Common name: Beard Tongue (referring to the hairy inside of the mouth of the flower).

We like to grow the herbaceous types rather than the more usual woody Grandflora types.

Propagation of the herbaceous ones is by division of clumps, basal cuttings in spring or seed in spring.

Penstemon digitalis "Husker Red": The new leaves are beetroot red foliage turning more bronze as they mature. Spires of pinkish white flowers in early summer. Good autumn colours to the foliage as well. Very hardy. About 2ft 3in tall in flower.
