Macleaya:
Common name: Plume
Poppy. Very tall and imposing plants for the back of the border. They grow
well in sun or light shade and don't need watering. We find them to be
self-supporting, despite reaching over 10ft (300cm) tall. The new foliage can be
damaged by late frosts but the plants always recover quickly. The species are very vigorous
runners so be prepared to pull up unwanted plants some way away from the parent.
Propagate by removing rooted suckers. They are members of the poppy family, but
you'd never guess it from the flowers (unless of course you're a
botanist I suppose!)

stately plants and large, intricately shaped leaves that are sage green.
The tall spires of tiny flowers are pinkish and borne in the height of
summer. Height: 8ft or more.
