Boltonia:

Common Name: Bolton's Aster.

Close relatives of the more common Aster differentiated by their narrow, blue-green leaves. All spread by underground stems but are not hard to control and make lovely self-supporting plants for late colour and interest.

Propagate by division of rooted plantlets.

Perfect Partners: Boltonia Snowbank with Verbena bonariensis.

A member of the Asteraceae family

Good for bees.

Boltonia asteroides var. latisquama "Snowbank": From pink buds white flowers with yellow centre are held in generous sprays.  About 4ft tall. Flowers from August onwards.

Boltonia decurrens

Pale pink flowers in sprays on 5ft plants. A lovely plant normally blooming in late summer, but this year as an added bonus we had some flower in early summer.

The name "decurrens" means "running down or through" referring to the downward facing leaves.
