Ajuga:
Common name:
Bugle.
Great ground cover for
shade or part shade. Invaluable nectar source for early flying bumble bees.
Spreads by rooting runners that are easy to dig up and plant elsewhere. Fine if
completely overshadowed by other plants in summer.
A member of the
Lamiaceae family (Dead Nettles) although Ajuga have glossy leaves not at
all like the usual hairy, soft leaves of this family.
