Helenium Sonnenkringel (Peter and Bärbel Zur Linden 2005)

Helenium Sonnenkringel 19th August  © 2010 SpecialPerennials.com all rights reserved

This new variety was introduced to the UK by us in 2010. It has a double layer of yellow petals with russet beneath, with the petals curling to reveal their two colours. It grows to about 3ft 6in tall and is very upright and self-supporting. It flowers from early August.

The name translates with difficulty. A "Kringel" is a "crinkle" and also type of pastry cut with a crinkle edged cutter. "Sonnenkringel" is also German fairy story.
