Helenium Vivace

Excellent vermilion red flowers with slightest hint of tangerine under the petal tips.  The near black cones are very striking compared to the more normal chocolate brown cones in red flowered Heleniums.

Short plants - about 2ft / 60cm high.

Flowers from third week of  July. The flowers, like most red Heleniums, open orange and yellow striped, soon turning red. Unlike some other reds Vivace keeps its colour as the flowers mature.

First entered in the RHS Plant Finder in 2003/4.

"Vicace" is an Italian musical term indicating a "lively mood".

Mail order 9cm: £3.50 (order now to reserve for spring delivery)

This plant is more or less identical to H.Meranti. In our garden Vivace is marginally shorter and usually 5-10 days earlier to flower.
