Kokarde is an upright variety that doesn't need staking. It flowers from late July and grows to about 3ft 6in - 4ft tall. It is very floriferous and much loved by bees. “Kokardes" (“Cockades”) were painted circular badges worn on the side of military helmets, German ones being the same colours as this flower.
