| "Feeling Hot,
Hot, Hot": Ever since Christopher Lloyd ripped
up his rose garden and planted a hot tropical scheme, gardeners have been
divided on the use of hot colours in the garden. Some like it hot, whereas
others don't want to get their fingers burnt.
This talk takes a fresh look at
creating heat in your garden through not just colour, but also shape and
form; raising the temperature gradually from a mellow, relaxing warmth to
a sizzling, flaming heat. The focus is on using hardy plants for hot
effects.

| "Heleniums:
Late Colour Not to be Sneezed At": The
Sneezeweeds, Heleniums, are
having a bit of a renaissance at the moment with the trend towards warmer
autumns and naturalistic plantings. In our garden Heleniums are the
mainstays of colour from July right into November.
This talk covers the latest developments
in Heleniums that have larger flowers, bushy and more compact plants right
through to the towering giants of the border and how to grow them
successfully and use them as part of the late, late show in the
traditional border and the more modern natural settings. A chance to
view our National Plant Collection at any time of year!
