Centaurea
simplicicaulis
Feathery pink cornflowers and finely divided
grey-green leaves. The flower stems
reach about 30-40cm. Excellent at the front of the flower border or in an alpine
or scree garden. Flowers from June through to autumn. Drought tolerant but not
fussy about soil. Best in a sunny spot.
The epithet simplicicaulis means
"un-branched stem". Native to Armenia and Caucasus.
