nigra
Native British wildflower known
variously as Hardheads, Loggerheads, Black Knapweed and Spanish Buttons. With purplish pink
flowers on stiff, upright stems about 3ft tall. Best in sun.
After each flush of flowers allow the
Goldfinches to feast on the seeds and then cut the flowered stems down to
their base. You will find new shoots with buds already growing up to give
more flowers.
