Lovely meadow / cottage flower. Lots of pretty pink cornflowers from dark bronze buds. The stiff, 2ft 3in  stems are self supporting. Starts flowering in June and re-blooms through October (November) if deadheaded. Drought tolerant but not fussy about soil type. Best in a fairly sunny spot.

C. jacea is distinguished from the similar C. phrygia and C. Caramia by its buds that are bronze, shiny with stiff scales.
