Centaurea bagadensis
This is a low growing, clump former with
grey-green, toothed leaves. Its flowers are rayed and mid pink with white centre.
At first sight it is very similar to Centaurea pulcherrima but is distinguished by the shape
and colour of its flower buds. It need full sun and well-drained soil.
Despite its looks it came through the
extra cold winters of 2009-10 and 2010-11 quite happily.
