This lovely species has deep red, feathery flowers opening from bronze, scaly buds on branched stems. It grows to about 2ft 6in / 75cm tall and flowers from early June, reblooming if deadheaded. It grows well in the mixed border provided you can give it some sun and good drainage in winter.

It is a native to the Balkans and Romania.
